ÉducaLibre 2026 — the European gathering for free education

To everyone interested in the ÉducaLibre conference that was to take place from 4 to 6 July 2026 at the Université libre de Bruxelles.

Unfortunately, the very strong tensions between teaching staff and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles at the end of the 2026 school year have considerably complicated our search for participation and funding.

As of 6 June 2026, we have come to the conclusion that it would be best to cancel this first 2026 edition, in order to properly prepare the 2027 edition.

We are sorry and will be, together with you, better prepared for 2027.

ÉducaLibre 2027 will be a unique event bringing together all the forces working around free software and open educational resources in Europe.

Our vision

European education faces major challenges: dependency on proprietary solutions, data protection concerns, constrained budgets and stifled innovation. Educational commons and free software offer a transparent, collaborative and sustainable alternative.
